Movement you never hear

A shade should announce nothing. The motors we specify are engineered for near-silence, so a wall of glass can dress itself for morning without waking anyone in the room. Travel is smooth and synchronized: banks of shades arrive together, hembars level, gaps closed. In a bedroom at dawn or a screening room at showtime, the only evidence of the system is the light changing.

Choreographed to the Florida sun

The Miami sun is the reason you bought the view, and the reason the rugs fade. Our sun-tracking automation follows the solar path through the day and the seasons, adjusting each exposure before glare reaches a screen, a countertop or your eyes. The same intelligence protects what the sun would otherwise take: art, rugs, veneers and upholstery shielded from UV without living behind closed curtains. Rooms stay bright, and the interiors keep their color.

Fabric & Hembar Selection

Openness, weave and finish chosen with your interior designer, room by room.

Chosen with your designer, staged with your light

Fabric is a design decision, and we treat it that way. We work alongside interior designers to select openness, weave and color room by room, and coordinate hembars, pockets and side channels with the architecture so hardware disappears. On new construction in South Florida, we detail recesses with the architect and builder early, before drywall, so every window reads as intended, with or without the shade drawn.

Shades earn their place inside your lighting scenes. One touch lowers blackout in the bedroom, another sets the cinema to true dark, and an evening scene draws the house in as the lights warm. And like every system ioty installs, your shades are backed by our Client Care monitoring and service plans: watched, maintained and kept moving quietly for years.

Choosing the fabric

Every shade fabric makes one promise, measured in openness: the share of the weave left open to the view. A tighter weave softens more glare and holds more privacy; a more open one keeps the water view honest while still taming the sun. Most rooms land in between, and the right answer changes with the exposure. What works on a shaded northern window rarely suits a western wall of glass.

The sun that lights a room also fades it. Performance fabrics shut out most of the ultraviolet that bleaches art, rugs and veneers, protection that works all day without closing off the view. Color matters more than most expect: darker fabrics read clearer to the eye and control glare better, while lighter ones diffuse daylight and reflect heat. And where darkness is the point — bedrooms, the cinema — blackout fabrics with side channels take the room to true black.

We narrow thousands of options to a shortlist with your designer, room by room, against exposure, interiors and the Florida sun. Browse the library below to get a feel for what you like, and note what catches your eye.

Questions, answered plainly

Do motorized shades provide hurricane protection in Miami?

No. Motorized shades are interior window treatments for light, glare and privacy; they are not storm protection, and ioty does not position them as such. Impact glazing and dedicated shutters do that work. ioty is a home technology integrator in Doral, Miami, and we design shading for daylight control in luxury homes across South Florida.

How quiet are motorized shades?

Quiet enough to run while you sleep. We specify motors engineered for near-silent operation and program gentle travel speeds, so shades can rise with your morning scene without a sound you'd notice. Most mornings the only clue a shade has moved is the light.

When should motorized shades be planned in a construction project?

Early — ideally during design development, before drywall. Recessed pockets, side channels and wiring all live in the architecture, so we coordinate directly with the architect, builder and interior designer. Planned early, shades disappear into the ceiling; added late, they compromise the detail. Retrofit is possible, but concealment options narrow.
